History: When she was first born nobody thought Kusajishi Yachiru would even survive the night, and yet she proved everyone wrong. Her mother died within hours of giving birth, and her father was about ready to give up on life when he first heard his daughter cry. The life of a fisherman wasn’t easy, but it paid the bills and the captain of the ship Yachiru’s father worked for had a wife who had always wanted children. Knowing how hard it would be to raise a daughter on his own especially in a place like Hamatonbetsu, he willingly gave up his daughter to his boss and wiped his hands of the matter, hoping for the best.
Things went along well enough at first, except Yachiru proved to be an odd child. She never spoke a word to anyone, only crying when upset and whimpering when she was hungry. Her new parents tried everything they could think of to get the oddly pink-haired child to open up, but nothing ever seemed to work. She had never been given a real name, and everything around her had been so confusing that she had shut down. Her adoptive parents couldn’t figure that out, and left her to her own means.
One day, shortly after her fifth birthday, Yachiru got separated from her mother while they were out shopping. She wandered down an alleyway in one of the more seedy parts of town and came upon a fresh crime scene complete with bodies cooling in the afternoon sun. There was a knife lying on the ground, and as she went to touch it an older boy appeared and began to talk to her. He told her how the knife was dangerous and asked if she was afraid. She giggled, and he seemed to realize how lost she was.
He asked her name and she was unable to tell him what it was. He then took it upon himself to name her Yachiru, and to let her know that his name was Kenpachi. Pleased by the attention, something about the stoic ten year old made Yachiru want to be loved by him, so she slowly began to open up. When she was eventually found by her adoptive mother she pitched a fit until her new friend ‘Kenchan’ was also allowed to come with them.
Yachiru refused to be separated from Kenchan, following him everywhere, something that he never objected to. Her parents were not thrilled by this and tried to stop her from seeing him after a few years of indulging her behavior, but that only caused the willful child to run away. She and Kenchan traveled around looking for a place where they could make a living, eventually settling in Tokyo.
Yachiru ended up going to school, eventually graduating with high enough marks to get her accepted to Tokyo University. When she was old enough Yachiru got a part-time job to help support herself. She was able to afford a crappy apartment, and set her sights on becoming a famous painter, or singer/rapper. Her true goals in life are to become a household name so that she can have the money and means to make Kenchan as happy as he has made her.
Likes: Kenchan, candy, music (American hip-hop and pop, and J-pop), violence, having fun, fuzzy animals, beating things up, piggyback rides, the beach, the zoo, hide and seek, biting heads, dancing, being silly, clubbing in Harajuku, hanging out...all sorts of stuff!
Dislikes: Mean people, short jokes, scallops, big dogs, missing Kenchan, working, losing...
